all high boys had leaf springs front and rear and were 3/4 ton ( 8 lug ) . it's possible that a body swap was done but if you have coils up fron then it's niether a high boy or a lowboy.
well that rules out the highboy swap for my truck....
i have coils up front.
and i thought highboys were up to 77.5 and then after that they where called lowboys but im probably wrong..
yes the 77.5-79 were lowboys. you can swap any cab the only differance is where the rear cab mount holes are. you just need to change what hole you use. any 1/2 ton had the wider frame no matter the year. so any 1/2 ton cab you get will fit you 1/2 ton frame

This apples to the 2wd vehicles as well. 2wd's and 78/9 4wd's shared the same frame dimensions with regards to beds, and cab mounts. (exception is the super camper special and cab and chassis trucks. Though the cabs still remained the same)
Only the F250 4wd had the funky narrow rear section of frame, again with the exception of the cab and chassis, and super camper specials.
Ford did some funky stuff thats for sure.
This can of worms has been opened long before this thread.
We should also add that while we use the term highboy, and lowboy, Ford never recognized this term, as this term is simply an enthusiast term to describe / identify an early F250 from a late one.
My highboy had a rear frame section that sits at 34" wide, if I recall correctly. I remember checking an F350 DRW, and it's the same frame width, I was interested in putting a wrecker body on my highboy at the time - and soon gave up the idea because it was ... well... stupid for what I wanted to do. But it would have fit.
I also remember getting a chrome step-bumper for an F350 from a local speed shop's clearance department, because it fit my highboy.
