I have read here that the door ajar light comes on b/c of the door sensor and that you just need to use a little wd-40 on it....my problem is I can't find the sensor...can anyone help me out here the light is very annoyning.
Based on my experience, I suspect that this little problem can affect F-series light duty Ford Pickups and Expeditions. At about 45,000 miles, my '97 F-250 light duty pickup developed the door ajar light remaining on symptom...Dome lights would not go off...horn honked twice in quick succession when the lock button was pressed twice on the keyless remote entry fob. I sprayed a good amount of LPS 2 lubricant into the door latches. This immediately fixed the problem. Evidently, the mechanism for the door ajar sensor is in the door latch. Tonight, our '97 Expedition with 50,000 miles exhibited the exact same symptoms. Got out the trusty LPS 2 spray lubricant, doused the latches, and immediately rectified the problem.
I wonder if this fix will ever make it to an official TSB? Hope that this string of posts helps other owners protect their financial interests.
