Tranny mount question

Here is the situation: I am swapping a 302/c4 combo into my '50 F2. Block hugger headers. Last weekend, I finally reached the point where I could test fit the engine/transmission. Everything seems to be positioned pretty well but I have a question.

The transmission mount hits directly on the original transmission crossmember. I was planning to add a new crossmember behind the original but that doesn't seem to be needed.

My question is whether there is a C4 pad/cushion available that will mount to the original xmem mounting holes? If not, any reason I couldn't drill new holes in the xmem to match the C4 mount?

Thanks.

I don't see any reason you can't drill to adapt. One thing you definately want to check after you get done though is the rear end pinion angle difference with the engine/tranny centerline. If it's off any more than about 3 or 4 degrees, your drive shaft will vibrate - alot.

I have a 390 C6 93/8 rear and just had new rear springs put in it. The PO installed the rear end and the pinion angle was off almost 15 degrees (along with a number of other bone heaeded things he did to it) It vibrated constantly but between 25 and 35 mph, the vibration was substantial. I didn't realize how bad it was until I got it fixed - WOW, what a difference!
