Transmission mount/crossmember

Transmission mount/crossmember
I have narrowed down a vibration on my '89 Ranger to the transmission mount that is between the crossmember and the transmission. I have the mount and am ready to put it in. It has the M5OD transmission if that matters. My concern is, I'm sure the traditional way to do this is to support the transmission, take the nuts off that attach the mount to the crossmember, then remove the crossmember, replace the mount and put the crossmember back on. However, the bolts on the crossmember-to-frame mounts are really rusty, to the point where I don't want to mess with them for fear of breaking the crossmember or its mounts. So my question is, is it possible to remove the trans. mount-to-crossmember nuts, then jack the transmission up enough to take the old mount out and slip the new mount in? Just wondering if anyone has ever done this or thinks it can be done. Thanks.
