I would like for my C6 tranny to shift better. Has anyone used some kind of shift kit? I don't even know the right questions to ask. Sorry. Thanks for any help you could provide.
Before you do this install, go and buy yourself one of those magnetic pans (stainless pan with magnets on the bottom) to hold all of the little parts. It will make the job MUCH easier.
I went with a stage 2 kit in my C4 and had to pull the tranny to replace the clutches and bands. It wasn't difficult by any means, but then again I have done a couple axle gear swaps too, my difficulty meter maybe a little skewed. I also drilled out the little holes in the valve pack, that was a little unnerving, but it all worked out good. Just make sure everything is CLEANED thouroghly!! This caused me to have problems later when some dirt got in the valve pack. I even found the bit of sand later when I pulled the valve pack off!
another option for the E4OD is, they sell this thing in the Summit catolog that electronically changes how the trans shifts w/o even touching the transmission. It's this little switch that wires in somewhere. It's supposed to be a peice of cake though.
I've installed 2 B&M shift kits in my trucks. It is quite easy but messy. The B&M kit should have a drain plug with it. Before you remove any bolts, drill a small (1/4") hole in the recommended place in the pan (location in the directions) to drain the fluid out. This way, you don't end up with trans fluid all over yourself(I found out the hard way) As stated earlier, make sure everything if very clean, I use brake cleaner. Unbolt valvebody, modify per instructions, re-install, fill with fluid and enjoy.
Nope no drain plug in my kit. Cost $80 too. Where is the recommended place to drill and how big a hole to drill. I very appreciate all the help thanks a bunch
You have purchased the Video on how to rebuild a C6 , have you not........I hope so....it is available here on the website I think!!!...fd.....confused:

the only real complaint i ever had about my 97 f150 was the lazy way it shifted. so i was an easy sell for what sounded like a cheap fix to the issue. Put the b and M on and it was crap. Paid a tranny shop $50 to confirm that it was correctly installed and they double checked that my transmission was working properly and the b and m part number was correct. Soon as i got home from the tranny shop i ripped it out. Plenty of people may have great success with the internal tranny upgrade but in my case it was a lesson learned.
ford truckin, it was several years ago when i had the B and M misadventure but i am 99% sure it gave option between "normal" and "sport". More descriptive labels were "Head On" or "Train Wreck"
