Automatic 4 wheel drive
i don't know about anyone else but im not the biggest fan of auto 4wd. ill be in the mud or something and i can hear and feel it kicking in. i would love to be able to make it so its just RWD unless i put it in 4x4.

what year is your explorer? I have an 02 and I have run into this problem. Mine mainly is i went up slightly higher in tire size and the auto 4wd does not like the extra inch or so so when getting up to speed to say get on the highway it bucks as if saying the tires are slipping. Anyways I found the disconnect for the wire harness under the glove box and disconnected from the 4 wheel drive control module. This puts it in 2wd until you plug it back in. This is less than ideal but if you dont use 4wd often its an easy way to bypass any modifications. I spoke with a ford mechanic and they stated it would not cause any problems doing this and so far going on a year of doing this I have seen no problems. That is if you can put up with the 4wd lights flashing on the dash periodically. Hope this helps...
