I believe that the in fuel line is on the bottom of my fuel filter housing and the return line is on the top. If I remove the return fuel line from my fuel filter housing will that expose the fuel pressure regulator or is it removed from inside the fuel filter housing?
The FPR housing is secured to the fuel bowl with 2 torx bolts externally. You have to disconnect the return line and remove the two screws. The spring pressure is substantial so remove the screws evenly, a little on one side and then the other so you do not put undue stress on the housing bolt ears.
You guys ROCK !!!
Cleaned the two screens in the canister. Don't know how fuel could even get through them. Want to thank Chris for the suggestion and especially the picture. A lot of good suggestions and information. My truck now runs great again.
I recently had the same problem with my 2000 F-350 DRW. The trash in my tank was the tank lining. It was flaking off and I finally had to replace the tank. I realize this was an extreme case but thought it would be of interest.

If that ever happens to mine, I'm going with a 68 gal Titan tank.
