The control module is on the distributor. Two phillips screws and it'll come right off. Problem is, non of the parts stores carry the module in stock so I'll have to wait 'till tomorrow after work to get it fixed.

Ahhh, interesting and good to know. They must've moved it when it went to the feedback carb setup.

I lied to you. The module is riveted to the distributor. I was going off of the stock photos on the O'reillys web site.

So you have to cut the rivets if you need to change out the module? Sounds like a pain!

I replaced the control module and still nothing. It is sparking now but only when I release the key, and only for a second.

Your ignition switch may be( probably is) on its way out the door. Not an uncommon thing when you consider how many times it is used.It is also a source of intermitant electrical problems. Check it out thorughly before you just replace it. OBCB

I see from your first post, you have an 86. I believe the switch is still located on the steering colum under the dash ( not behind the key ) and if so is adjustable. I have had them work fine then quit and only need a small tweek of posistion change to work fine. If you check/adj on the vehicle ( you kind of have to) make sure you're in park/ neutral with trans for safety. Kind of bad if it starts in gear and goes through something. Be safe OBCB

True, true. I have been surprised before by just how far a vehicle can lurch with just a touch of the starter when in gear.

Ignition switch you say? How would I adjust it?

I have a bad experience or two starting a vehicle off of the solenoid. A buddy of mine had an old Jeep Wagoneer that he used to have to start off the solenoid and once or twice he forgot to put the thing in park or neutral. Rolled over my foot one time.

Good to hear. Installed a new carb and the problems went away?

Actually, I took it to a friend who owns a shop and he tinkered with it in his spare time. It took him about two weeks to figure out the problem, and another 3 weeks to fix it.
