Top Radiator Hose ?

After 10 years I decided to Do a cooling system PM:
New alt belt
Dieselsite 203' & Billet Housing
New top & bottom hose New O ring
Fleet Charge Antifreeze
No leaks! So far

Should the Top hose be clamped to the Alt bracket? I Am concerned it may rub the hose and cause a problem later.

Yep, that's what the engineers wanted, but mine has been off for about 6 to 8 years now... no adverse affects.

I've gone a year now without the hose tied up. So far no problems.

Why is that Nick? It seems to be a popular thing to change. But I never heared why the 203 is supposed to be better. Just curious

I zip tied my upper hose a few years back, no problems at all.

The higher temperature should be better for your engine. I bought it and checked with infra-red thermometer. The difference between temperatures was minimal. Like 3 degrees. The 203 is full opening temperature, while it starts to open about 180 and that is how my engine runs most of the time. Doubt the engine will tell the difference unless you are in Alaska.

10-4, I'll scratch that mod off of my list then. Thanks

Ok, I went over there and read all about it...im not convinced. I know the '07 c13 CAT I used to drive ran in the low 200's, and the mech at CAT said it has more to due with emissions, but does nothing for fuel economy.
But If Lisa has one......Maybe I'll give it a try

cool.
I wasn't looking to cause trouble. Just simple question about the top hose.
But with that said I wanted to try the 203 over the new 192 that is offered over the counter.I don't expect to see signifacant temperture changes or performance or milage. I will certanly let you know if there is.
Also by the same token if I see that it's going to be a problem I will go to the 192'.
The radiators are big You have to put a sigifacant load to reach the higher operating temps
Camping trips are booked we will soon see if the it lives up to the hype.....

Your not causing any trouble. Im just being goofy....as usual.
It gets hot here in the summer, and I do alot of towing. I'm gonna stick with the lower temp therm.

What is significant load for you?
What you see on the picture is about 23,000 lb.
Overheating on the mountain pass was never an issue, although you can see it was pretty cold out there.
