Adding Real Gauges (Pictures Wanted)

Thinking about adding a trans. temp, engine oil pressure, and engine coolant temp. gauges. I have seen a few by searching but know there must be a lot of people with them. Is there a brand that matches the Ford colors nicely?

Pics Please!!!! I think I can figure out what mount to get, It's the gauges (style) I'm not sure about.

Thanks.

I added a tranny temp gauge a few years go and abought a A-Post, dual pod for it with plans to add another gauge later. Then I discovered and bought a ScanGauge - now I don't the gauge that I installed, nor any other ones.

I had it to do all over again, I would go with the ScanGauge right off the bat. It will provide just about anything that oyu ever needed in one package and you can monitor 4 sensors simultaneously. I also spent the extra $$ and got a BlendMount so the ScanGuage fits nicely above the rear view.

I was wondering about that myself. I wanted to get a pillar gauge set but I was concerned that it wouldn't match my interior. I'd feel a lot better about leaving everything stock. Does the scangauge work as part of a programmer or is it a standalone set-up?

I have considered a ScanGauge and the AeroForce gauge (pricey, but cool). Does your ScanGauge fit in well with overhead console?

Any chance you have a picture of that? A nice pic may sell me on your idea.

Thanks.

Yes, the SC plugs in to your OBD port. You can also scan SEC codes and clear them. And it's easy to unplug and move to another vehicle for scanning or gauges.

I have pics somewhere, but can put my hands on them right this minute. But if you check out Welcome to BLENDMOUNT.COM | ScanGauge II you can see stock pics. If you buy from them you can get the mount & SC2 for $209 - the SC2 by itself is $169, so just $40 more. Well worth it IMHO -esp compared to the cost of traditional gauges.

If you re insterested in the AeroForce, track down X_Hemi_Guy. He has one and loves it. I agree with you though - a little pricey for me.

For the tranny temp, I had to program the feature using the X-Gauge. It's not complicated and the instructions are included.

I have the SCT Live Wire 9600 from Mike at 5 Star and it does it all, can monitor RPM, Volt, Cooling Fan Temp, Fuel, Spark, and it has a port for a external source. It also plugs into the OBD-II port, and will read and clear DTC trouble codes, it will perform data logging that I can download to my computer and anaylize the results.

Here is a picture of where I mounted mine:

I put a glo-shift gauge trio in my Expedition and transferred it over to my Excursion. They make a three gauge pod that goes over the A pillar. I spent a lot of time wiring it all up and making it look good. Then I found out about the scan gauge. I wish I would have done that instead. There is one unit to mount and wiring is a breeze compared to what I did. Just my 2cents. Let us know what you do.

I was planning on putting in a SCT tuner and the gauges would be to keep an eye on everything. I didn't realize the tuner came with gauges of its own. I haven't done any research yet, just reading threads and seeing what others have done.

For any year Ex the DiPricols match the best.

I have DiPricols In my Ex and my F250. They are hard to get now-a-days though.

So the Scangauge II with the X-Gauge can show instant Tranny Temp?
I was going to pick on of these up, but didn't since I didn't see that as an option it had - if that is the case though I will have to rethink. My Edge shows boost and EGT's now - but will be pulling more this summer and had wanted a real temp on the tranny.
was it all programing on the device, or do you have to plug a temp probe into the tranny?
Thanks

is there anywhere where all the features/gauges are shown for them so we can match apples to apples?

The ScangaugeII will monitor up to 50 or 55 different POI's. I think out of the box you can pick from about 15 or so but you can program up to roughly 30 or so additional using the X-gauge. I have programed mine for trans temp, engine oil temp, mat, exhaust back pressure, and many others.

I think the SCII was $160 WELL spent; I love it! The only disappointment I have with it so far is that apparently it will not read EGT or oil pressure. I can't believe that the OBD system does not track those two readings but the SCII does not give any programming info for them. I was going to call/email today and check in to it.

It can also track fuel usage, economy, trip info. including $ per mile, $ per trip etc.

I like that 4 gauge setup william_04_x. I also like the features of the ScanGauge2 except it won't do engine oil pressure. I know I read that it will do tranny temp which is what I would want most. I probably should have forked over the dough for the Livewire instead of the X3 when I got the tunes.

Ok, sounds like the endorsement I needed.
I have EGT on the Edge monitor, so I'm covered there.

Thanks!
