been on my current job for a little over 7yrs, running across southern Iowa on a US hwy at night. In that 7yrs I have hit 18 deer with the semi. Yeah we have a LOT of deer around here.
This deer was shot about 30 miles from my house and right along my route
This thread got way off subject, but thats ok. It was still an entertaining, if not informative, read. The only time Ive been "hunting" this year I sat in a tree stand wearing shorts a sleeveless t-shirt and sperrys with a 12pk and no gun. The only time I sat last year was wearing similar clothes a similar 12pk and a .17hmr to put one through the ear hole. Mission accomplished end of story.
I like to dog hunt just to hear the dogs run and drink beer. Othewise I dont really waste my time.
Went through a month of bow season watching a ton of does walk past my stand close up and seeing the bucks skirt just out of range. Then came muzzle loader and no deer at all only to discover 4 stands in close proximity to mine, yep we had a bad case of poachers this year! I walked deeper in and found most of the deer had gone deep due to all of the activity early on. The good thing is I now own 4 more ladder stands to use next year! This weekend is opening day of general firearms and we run dogs as a club. So long story short is I'll be hearing the hounds this weekend!
