My first tank I got 12.4. I have a 2010 Crewcab 4x4 with 5.4 and 3.55 gears. That was a 50/50 mix of city/highway. Im on my 2nd tank now. Hoping it improves with the miles.
I had the same experience, I was getting great milage according to the computer. However, today i was on the highway and noticed that the readout went from around 16mpg down to 6mpg. Speed never changed, no hills, nothing. I got off the highway and reset it, it went from 28 mpg back down to 10mpg, now it is reading around 14mpg. 2009 F150 FX4. I thought I felt an ignition skip, but the engine runs and sounds good with no hesitation. First thought was a ignition coil. It is not skiping now, just seemed weird.
me too and the fact is thats all were ever gonna get
Yes, I fully agree with you.....its a big truck. These claims of 20 plus we continue to see are probably all computer issues. Shotgunz has gone to a lot of trouble indexing his mileage and has an overall 17 Mpg whitch, IMO, is remarkable. That said, I suspect one who goes to that length to monitor mileage consumption is also probably a very careful driver. Unfortunately, or fortunately(depends on how you see it) for me, I do not come close to the mileage Shotgunz is getting, but maybe I have more fun; LOL.
I'd know you do, right up to the point you fill up. (just joking)
It's neither good or bad; just a choice with outcomes.
I do drive the speed limit and moderately accelerate - try to keep the RPMs below 2500.
The only good outcome of my driving stlye is more money for beer.
I do have another reason for documenting the MPG. I know of at least one case where the owner took the truck in after his MPG went from 16-17 to 13-14. The dealer claimed 13-14 was normal and there was nothing wrong with the truck. The owner said BS, look at the mileage before. Eventually the dealer found a leaking head gasket (as I recall). Fixed it under warranty and mileage went back to 16-17.
