this is the 4th one i have hit... first one to do damage...
the road to my house is a twisting, winding road with alot of elevation changes... this guy pop out of the bushes without warning at a hill crest...
the moment i saw it, i didn't even have time to swear and just barely lifted my foot off the pedal when we made contact...
It seems it is excessive damage for a little deer... they usually just go under the truck with no damage... have you guys had any experience hitting stuff with your truck?
I am considering a tow-truck push bumper as a replacement - however, I cannot find any under $800. Anyone have a spare passenger side headlight, or the orange piece, or the bumper for cheap?
I'd consider the full replacement front bumper with grill guard. I've got one from Ranch Hand. My wife accidentally hit a cow with my truck a few years ago. Scratched the bumper paint a bit, but otherwise no damage (to the truck). They're expensive, but worth it.
Sir, I award thee 10 points each. Minus 5 for damages and you have 35 points!
Aftermarket bumpers are really expensive, but you get what you pay for. A cheap one might look cool, but will provide little to no protection. Get the best and you'll be thankful.
Damage, what damage? We hit a deer 2 weeks ago with my wifes Subaru. The bill is up to $6,000 as of yesterday . I've been thinking about a gaurd for the SD, but they are pricey. I've been driving in western MT for 38 years- that was my first deer strike.
fwiw, I think deer go on your comprehensive policy - john
I'm sure you field dressed that deer. My kind of road kill.
Its funny you would say that. Somebody hit a deer down here a few weeks ago (its not in deer season right now) They went to pick it up and throw it into the truck to do just that, wildlife and fisherys took him to jail and seized his truck and everything for illegal hunting. Even tho the front of the truck clearly shows it was hit.

Thats crazy. The cops around here call me and my brother when someone kills a deer and they don't want it. I would have told the cops I was taking the deer to the vet because it looked hurt.

Things are a little diffrent here from where u are. Same for by monroe. Do they even have an actual deer season or does everybody just hunt on there land or friends land? lol
But yea, I dont know of anybody who would screwup the front of there truck for some deer meat out of season. Seems like there ignorance to do it if they did on purpose would be enuf, not to have to take there truck.
Here in WI, the guy who hits the deer gets first crack at it. If the driver does not want it, the police usually have a list of people who will take the deer. Even if the driver wants the deer, they have to get a tag from the DNR before it can be moved. In the next county over from me, they have a big cat sanctuary.(lions and tigers etc..) all unwanted roadkill gets left in their driveway and they use it to feed the cats.
