Test Meter Fuse Question

HI
I have a Tenma 72-4025 DMM.

The Voltage and Ohms works fine but I blew both fuses for the Amps portion.

One is a small barrell type .5A/250V fuse which I have no trouble finding.

The other is slightly bigger being 5mmx25mm (about 1/4"x1") with a rating of 10A/600V

I have found online a A110 fuse with the correct 10A/600V rating but it is a 1/4"x1-1/4" and I am sketchy about ordering from "unknown" online places.

My parts store can get a Fluke fuse that is rated at 15A/600V. would that work or would it blow my meter? But I think it is a 1/4"x1-1/4"

Would a 10A/250V work at all or would it pop instantly.

I would mainly be using the amp side of the meter for automotive use and not house current use.

Any input would be helpfull.

Thanks

You could use the lower voltage rated fuse, but your meter would not be rated like it was before(catagory rating). If you were working on something with more than 250v, and something bad happened and the fuse blew, the circuit would more than likely not be broken because the lower voltage fuse may arc and keep passing the higher voltage.

So you make your own mind up about what fuse to use since you know what applications you are going to use the meter for, but be warned your meter will not be safe on higher voltages.
