Engine Hoist

Has anyone built a frame to pull engines? I dont have a concrete slab to work with but Im wondering how high and what size materials to use. If anyone has a few pics that would be appreciated.

That is the one I contacted you about, but when I tore it down it wasn't in as good of shape as I had hoped for. I still got what I wanted it for, Which was mainly the ZF5 and the rockers and pump and injectors.

I don't think it would be cheaper than buying one from harbor freight. Mine is a two ton hoist and it was only 175 on sale. I guess if you have all the material then go for it but it might not save much.

a good stout shade tree (stick to the ral hardwoods like oak and maple) and a chain hoist. myself I got scared with my two ton harbor frieght hoist and cut the radiator support so I didn't have to lift it so high then I rolled the truck back instead of trying to move the hoist on gravel with all that weight on it

Mine worked like a champ and rolled perfectly fine. I hoisted my engine up over the bed of the truck because my driveway is shaped funny and it was the only way to get a good angle on it. Just have to have your wood screws in and you will be fine.
