Well I unplugged the sensor before leaving work this evening and drove home without a miss or idle fluctuation. The first part of my drive about 6-8 miles was freeway, which I got on it a few times. The last few miles was stop and go traffic, it idled like it use to.
I will be ordering the new sensor ASAP.
Pocket - Is there a new part# fr the refined snesor? I don't want to buy the old sensor by mistake.
Jason
Offhand I don't know the part number. I do know that the old style went out of production so long ago that you can't find it new anymore.
The SES cam on this morning again with the sensor unlugged and it was code P1280. Should this code be active with the sensor unplugged?
Yes, unplugging the sensor will trigger the code.
The main point of doing that was to see if the truck ran better. Since you reported that it did run better, then it isolates the sensor as the problem.
When you unplug the ICP sensor, the PCM substitutes a "best guess" for oil pressures. If the truck runs better on this best guess scenario, then it means the ICP sensor itself is sending the PCM incorrect readings.
I replaced the ICP sensor last week and all is back to normal. I wanted to wait a week before posting that the problem was fixed and stick my foot in my mouth when the probelm returned.
