Help Replacing Rear Brake Pads
Help Replacing Rear Brake Pads
Can anyone help me with a question. I plan on replacing the rear brake pads on my 2004 Ford PU. Will I need in special tools to do this? Also, The rotors feel ok (not perfect) when I run my fingers over the surfaces. Would you go ahead and have them turned even though they don't appear too bad?
Thanks for your advice

I just replaced pads in all four corners, no issues and no special tools. 72,000 miles, all parts come with the pads, my rotors were fine, if they are not all grooved up don't worry. I will recommend replacing the emergengy brake shoes, pretty easy job also. That is the whole reason i did the pad change, rear driver side wheel locked up because the pad came off from the shoe. Only tools i used were a screwdriver, needlenose pliers two foot pry bar, pretty big chanel locks and three pound sledge, (little bit of persuasion), rear rotors tend to stick. Not a bad job, about 2 hours and $120 bucks. Gotta love NAPA.
Thanks for the response mrllyonsden. That's great news. I was worried that I might have to get a special tool. Regarding the emergency brake shoes, yea, I plan on replacing them. One of my rear wheel emergency brake pads frooze and it caused my truck to vibrate badly when driving down the road. I figured I had a flat tire at first. Then, I checked out some other folks threads on this site and it sounds like this is a common problem. Anyway, thanks again.
