Carb cleaner?

K, here's my problem, if i dont rev my truck a lil when i start it, it dies, if i floor it from a dead stop, it dies, if i just stomp on it period, it dies, if i dont let it idle for at least five min and put in drive or any moving gear from park, it ****** F-ing dies. I put card additive in my fuel yesterday, and had my sis rev it open just a bit while a sprayed sum spray carb cleaner in it (only a few sprays 2 or 3), do i need to spray more, or what?

Did you clean around the hammer? Also is your choke still hooked up right?

idk if this is good to do.. but my dad always does it to our rigs that are carb'd

but when we use carb cleaner we rev er up and keep it runnin for bout 10 sec then spray it till it dies and let it sit a bit.. like 20sec and try to start it back up and it seems to clean out the carb well i think.. ive noticed differences sometimes..

but my choke isnt even hooked up and it has to be warmed up 5mins before moving..

Ok.....forget the carb cleaner. I believe we've already established that's not helping. Is your choke working properly??

But, if you're saying it still dies even after it's warm.....it sounds like you're having accelerator pump issues.

He has another thread related to the same problem where we've talked about a lot of it.

I BELIEVE the problem is that the choke is not adjusted properly and thus not applying when cold. It is not hooked up properly so it will never pull off when hot if it were to somehow be applied. The carb is also pretty nasty looking so it probably has power valve, accelerator pump, and possibly idle speed and mixture adjustment problems. There could also be vacuum leaks and timing problems.

After looking at pictures and talking about it, he was gonna start by going through the carb and then trying to get it adjusted right. Here is the other thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...me-please.html

This one can really be closed, there isn't much point in having two.
