Anybody have any experience with POR 15? is it worth the money? my frame is solid, but has some surface rust. I want to use the best product. please advise!
I did my frame in POR-15. I would highly recommend the stuff. It took less than a quart to do the whole frame. Looks great and is hard as a rock when it dries.
It's great stuff and would be excellent for your frame. The only caution I would give you (other than being sure to wear long rubber gloves 'cause it takes forever to wear off of your skin)! is that it doesn't do well in applications where it is exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. Obviously this isn't an issue unless your truck spends a significant amount of time upside down. I only bring it up because the stuff is so bulletproof that there's a tendency to think of other things you could coat with it and that's where you might be disappointed. I painted a steel door to my basement with it several years ago and the gray that I used faded and streaked pretty quickly. Having said that, though the door never rusted or anything, it just didn't look that good for very long. I think there is guidance on the label for stabilizing it against UV damage and/or arranging to top-coat it with another product. Have fun and post pics!
