5.4l spark plugs

Im new here and have a question. Just bought a 2000 f250 SD 5.4l. HAS 158000 miles on it so im going to change the plugs. my last gas truck was an 89 f250 with the 460, man things have changed under the hood. My question is the plugs look to be hidden under what i assume is the coil pack, is there anyhting special or tricky about removing them from the plug in order to change the plugs. do they twist, pop straight up, is there a catch on them, etc.???? also it looks like most of them are sitting right under what i assume is the fuel line to each cylinder, small metal tube. Is there a trick to getting the packs off with that in the way. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Talking 5.4L Plugs

Just remove the bolts holding the coils, and twist the coil until it clears the fuel rail---they will come out without removing the fuel rail. When you remove the coils, the boots might stick to the plugs--if that happens, just reach down there and pull the boot off with a pair of needle nose pliers. Before you remove the plugs, blow down into the hole with some compressed air to blow out any leaves, dirt, etc.---it does get in there--How---I don't know. Remove the old plugs, and when you install the new ones, coat the threads with anti-sieze grease and torque them to 11 foot pounds (Ford recommendation). Inspect all the plug boots, as the ends get pretty raggedy after a lot of miles, and replace them if needed. Before installing the coils, coat the inside of the lower end of the boots with silicone grease to keep them from sticking to the plugs. Bolt up the coils and you're done. I hope you are young and flexible, as you have to lay in the engine compartment to get the rear plugs on both sides--not much fun !!!

Be careful not to break the ceramic on the plugs it is easy to do on that motor.

Is there a specific reason you are changing the spark plugs? They are designed to go 100,000 miles before needing a change. Your truck is just hardly 1/2 way through the second set. if the engine is running OK I would leave them alone.

If you do change them you'll find the best results with the Triton engines is found using the Autolite plugs. I hear they have a new style that won't break in the head like the old style.

reason im changing them is i found things on the truck that were was said to be in good shape but were not. i dont necessarilly trust the person i bought it from bacause of this. i thought it would be better to change them si i know what shape they are in. i boughtnthe truck long distance which is my bad but im generaslly a trusting person, anyway thought it would be best to be safe than more sorry.
