XL or XLT??

XL or XLT??
We are looking at purchasing a '97 Ranger for my 16-year-old son. The VIN is 1FTCR15X3VTA15631 and I have done the VIN checker on here and it says the truck is an XL. Other decoders say that it is an XLT. The badging on the truck indicates XLT. I don't really see anything in the VIN that distinguishes the two. How can I tell??

XL vs. XLT are just different options packages. They have varied through the years, in the early 90s XLT came with air, nowadays base has air as an option.
What kind of options dose it have ( power locks, windows, air, leather or cloth, etc... ) then look up what each package had for that year.

The VIN will not tell you the trim level. If it has badges I would go with that. VIN will only tell you 2 door, 4 door, 4x2, 4x4, engine size and plant manufactured type stuff. Not trim, color, transmission, axle ratio, or any options.

Power windows and mirrors would indicate XLT
