do all f-250's start as XL models?

so I used the VIN decoder on this site for my 2000 f-250 and it came up with some strange options.

first off it says my truck is a XL Not a Lariat like I have, now I know that you can swap in seats and such and outer badges would be easy but could this really be the case?

I have tan leather, tan carpets, power everything the good stereo (even though the buttons quit working recently).

the vin decoder also said something about having grey carpet liner (not sure what that is).

So I was wondering if all the vins will start out as XL trucks and then they get optioned to XLT or Lariat.

Let me know

or better yet is there any way to tell if this truck is a lariat clone?

If you are using the FTE vin decoder I noticed it says XL even for our lariat I think it doesn't show the package of the truck.

Better than the VIN decoder is the Window Sticker, if your truck is new enough for it to work. That way you get all the options Ford built into it. I think the cut off is like 2006 or so. It works for both my 08 and 09.

I think you're confusing that with the window sticker link. I just pulled up my 2000 Excursion on the Etis site. It will not work for my '97 Town Car though, so the cutoff is somewhere around there.

COOL just did the link provided and it comes up with Lariat as the options, and paint color and such.

I also found out that I have the limited slip rear axel and 3.73
