transmission problems

transmission problems

i have a 04 f250 4x4 fx4 with a sct programmer on it i just stated haveing transmission problems at first it was slaming into drive then it got to where i would take a second or two to go into drive or reverse. well i was driving it into town and the trans started to slip. if i turned the truck of and turned it back on it would go. well i started it today and notice sometimes it wont go it to first it sounds like its taking off in 3rd or 4th. any ideas.

First thing to check is the fluid level. Lots of issues can happen with low levels and fixed when topped off. I would start here.

Sorry to say, but if you have the Mercon V fluid in there that you were mentioning in the other thread that's what the problem is.

Steve, What you are saying is we don't have the complete picture here. Also the OP does not state when or if the tranny has ever been serviced, by who, what fluid and if the filter has ever been changed? Guess the crystal ball has failed us again, dam thing!

Good decision, the torqueshirt tranny and Mercon V don't mix. It is a good fluid for a power steering flush if you are interested. I used the synthetic when I did mine.
