Are you going to have to replace the lock? Was it a factory stereo? I am hoping that because I have a factory stereo they won't bother stealing it. Mine is the AM/FM/CD/Cassette so I will just leave an old cassette sticking out of it. Hopefully the thief will see that and move on to the next rig.

I had two trucks broken into in San Antonio. July 2008 they got into my F150 at Blanco/1604. May 2009 they got into my F350 at work (on the old Kelly AFB, which is patrolled, but not well...). Both in broad daylight, both got through via the key hole. Got my backpack (with passport) from the F150 and Kenwood stereo from the F350. Had an alarm on the F150--didn't stop them, it only told me someone had broken in when I got into the truck. About a month and half ago, they got into my daughter's Mustang. all they got were her glasses, that she had only had since November. The cops come out, and hand you a card with a police report number. On my F350, he didn't even get out of his cruiser...
I put the factory radio back in the F350, and now use a portable XM receiver that I take with me, and don't leave ANYTHING of value in it now....it's sad. These little scumbags need to be shot on sight.

Here in NM these trucks are real popular for theives. I put an alarm on mine as soon as possible, at the suggestion of 2 friends that are cops. It wont stop the pros but it might make them look at an easier target. Around here they will shoot the trucks with bb guns or throw rocks as they drive by to test for alarms. One more benifit for the alarm if you have an XL without door locks like mine, you can have them added with the alarm.

Do jimmy jammers prevent them getting in by punching out the lock? And does anyone know if the new anti-theft ignition key can be defeated? On the newer trucks the factory nav. center with the 6 cd player costs over $2500.00 from the dealer but they are a little harder to take out than the older style radios.

Here's a funny story for ya. Bought my used F250 FX4 here in san antonio and took a trip south with it shortly after. I was only driving 5 miles over the speed limit so there was no reason for troopers to stop me. I was going 75 when a trooper traveling in the opposite direction came across a grass median and started driving the same speed right behind me, then slowly came into my blind spot off my left shoulder. Twenty miles later i was pulled over and asked to step out of my truck. Turns out the ford dealer i bought the truck from issued me the wrong plates and they didnt match my truck. How lucky was that? Anyway the trooper said the only reason he came across the highway is because they suspect any 4X4 F250 heading south might be stolen. Got a warning after proving i was who i said i was and proceeded to chew some *** at the dealership. It's pretty funny now but it sucked then. I thanked the trooper for looking out for my truck.
