Not there yet- that's phase 2 I got some ( a set of 6 liter pipes and bought one 7.3 cold pipe. We'll see cuz they're aluminum and probably gotta have some TIG work done.
yaaaaaay, im famous! scored a front page picture on FTE, nice... I have to drive my truck over by your house dude, holy poopoo. The exhaust is amazing, and what a SOTP difference combined with the DIY tymar i did yesterday. Can't wait to get that intercooler from matty and put it in. I think I might just be holding off until july for that though. I need to wait till work picks up, need some of that green stuff
the pipes may be aluminized, BUT you can weld them with a MIG welder. no need to TIG weld them, but if you want them TIG welded then have at it. just easier and works just as good to MIG weld 'em. lookin' good so far!!
On Edit: i don't see any 3" to 2" orange boots there. unless you have 3" intakes on your truck you will need the Early '99 3" to 2" orange boots that go from the intake spyder to the plenums. they are 3" at the spyder and neck down to 2" for the plenums. just an FYI if you don't have those.
I think the stock pipes are not aluminized steel but aluminim alloy pipes. I've mig welded aluminized and galvanized steels with my mig. I've also torch welded aluminum and tig welded aluminum. It's just a little prone to blow thru. I just don't have mig experience with aluminum. I may have a go and get the right gas for aluminum and give it a try. I think I need to reverse polarity, I have a spool of aluminum wire so we shall see. I've gotta make some room in there first and see what ideas come to me.
If you really do have aluminum pipes, I'd consider looking around for some steel tubing. There have been reports of wires and hoses chafing through the aluminum tubing over time.
PS - MIG welding aluminum sucks if you don't have a spool gun.

so do you have the right boots or the full 3" boots???
we MIG welded my pipes just like we would anything else as far as i know. i don't think Cody has any special gas he is using. LoL. try it on a small piece, you may be surprised???
I've got the big 3" orange boots for the big y pipe and plenum and I've got the stock orange boots for the small plenums. I didn't measure but the early 99 spider looks about the same diameter as the black y pipe on there now. I may end up fabbing pipes outa steel but slow and steady wins the race. I'm glad I've got these to model somthing up anyway.
When I mocked up my pipes I had them all tacked together and ready to weld and then found out 2 pieces were aluminum and two were steel on the pass side. The tacks held and i didn't even realize it till I tried to weld them. Had to grind the crap off and take them to a weld shop for the alum. I then just used jb weld and tied the alum. piece to the steel one. I was going to just get a boot if it didn't hold but its damn strong. I have no leaks. I know its not the right way to do it I just wanted to get it in at the time and get it running. I've messed with that pipe on and off some and its real strong so I may leave it?? I used it in the seam and just spreaded it a couple inches on each side too to cover it real good. It's down kinda low in front so you can't even see it. Plus its painted dark ford blue
