I just saw the recent thread asking about what year the harley trucks came out and its got me wondering. If they came out in late 03 early 04 that means there are only one year of harley wheels that will fit a 99-04. I have the opportunity to get a set of harley wheels and dont know the year for sure. Does anyone have any pics of what they looked like for the first years vs the 05+? Thanks.
A guy down in the V10 forum has the 18" wheels on his truck but I forget his UN. I have the 2004 Ford SD catalog and the wheels in the link above are what is on the Harley trucks.
I had a set on my last truck and the only harley rims with the proper backspacing for the 99=04 was off of the 04'. these rims were also on some of the 04' non harley trucks without the bar and shield milled into them. the harley trucks up to 03' were f150s, but they switched to the super duty's when they changed the f150 body style. I think it was 05' when they started making hd f150s again also.

Well, are the 04 and 05 harley wheels identical looking with just different backspacing or did they change the look in 05?
Been there done that. Correct harley wheel to fit the 99-04 is the 04 wheel. The 05 and newer has a different look and different backspacing. Now heres the other part. After getting a set to use on my 02 F350, it ended up ford changed thread pitch sometime after 02 making the oem chrome 04 lugs not work on an 02. The solution is to use the chrome ford lightning lugs for an 02 which have the same pitch as my 02 F350. The standard F350 nuts are not chrome since a cap clips over them. Simple ??
Forgot to mention, right after the 04 year ended ford dumped alot of excess manufactured 04 harley wheels on the market through their ford distribution network, and dealers were able to get them for a short time for the blowout price for $150 a rim . I believe the sales for the truck was way lower than they estimated, and they had a huge excess of parts. Several Ebay sellers had them back then in 05 for $1200 a set and after a couple months they sold out , so they doubled their money. My set came from a friend in the parts department of a ford dealer which showed me the flyer from ford. I bought 5 rims but they came less center caps. The 4 center caps cost me a little over a hundred. Also on blowout were the fender and gate badges, which were $100 a set for 3, so I bought 2 sets. When they came in, 1 out of the 6 had never had the black background painted in. I had the 3 badges all next to each other, with 3 specific part nembers on the packages, and side by side, there was absolutely no difference between any of them at all.
To complete the look on my 02 F350 XLT 4x4 standard cab, I decided to do the wheels, badges, and also I special ordered all the stripes for a black truck and installed them on my true blue clearcoat body.(Black trucks use a orange stripe) Had there been a harley standard cab or even a lariet available for order, I would have rather done that instead, but for some unknown reason, ford just made it available on the extended cab and crew only.
Even back then the stripes were hard to get in, as it took me over 2 months to finally get a complete set of stripes in due to extended back orders on some of the pieces.

Reason: additional info.
Didn't know about the lug nut thread difference, my lug nuts were lost in shipping. Bought my set for 900 shipped on ebay with 10 miles on the tires. I used the regular nuts and caps since I had manual locking hubs
My truck has shift on the fly, as all the harley trucks have also, and I used the caps that go on the harley wheels, but they have all closed ends, and thats how ford did the 04 harley. My hubs are set on auto.
Some things that have not been mentioned so far...
The 2004 (inaugural year) Harley-Davidson Super Duties came with 18" rims while the 2005 and newer model years all came with 20" rims.
The 2005 (and newer) Super Duty refresh included a change from leaf springs to coil springs in the front end and larger disc brakes on all four corners. This required larger rims to clear the brake calipers, and allowed for the fitment of larger tire & rim combinations.
In conjunction with the previous bullet point, the offset for these rims change, as the clearance requirements changed. The shallower offset on the 2004 (and earlier) rims was required in order to help maintain clearance between the tire & leaf spring at full turn. By going to coil springs, that requirement was removed.
