I have a 06 6.0 f-450 coming home from work i m doing about 65 mph and i herd a big boom under the hood and the truck lost all power and started smoking real bad.I stopped and found the turbo hose blue of the turbo i put it back on and tightened up the clamp and it ran grate. Why did it blow off and will it do it again?
One of the 6.0 shortcomings is the fact of crankcase ventilation (oil vapour) gets rerouted into the intake system.....that oil vapour reeks havoc on the boots causing swelling and internal deterioration which causes splits, leaks, and you guessed it.....slippage.

Make sure you clean the outsides of the tubes and the insides of the boots with brake cleaner real well.
Then "borrow" some of the CFO's hair spray and spray a very very light coat on the outsides of the tubes and the insides of the boots. Put back together and tighten down the clamps. This should help you keep the big bang to a minimum.
Is the oil needed in the turbo system for lubrication or just a screw up by ford. When i put the hose back on i noticed some oil on it i will take it apart and do it right .Thanks for all the feed back

Ford told International/Navistar to make it eat its own &^%$...thats why Ford and Intl don't get along so well....EPA brother. Same thing goes for the EGR cooler setup. The absence of a coolant filter on these motors is a mistake also...so like Mark said...we all just have to take it upon ourselves to right these wrongs.
clean off real well and spray with aquanet it will stay then. most common reason for the cac tube to pop off is over boost. over boost will lead to head bolt issues.
