We have the opposite problem here Star, the bodies fall off from rust long before the mechanicals are starting to wear out. A cheap/quick body job here buys another 4-5 years of winter exposure before it's pooched again. The truck I just brought home is a '90, with 260K kms, so about 150K miles, and the body is toasted. The box has holes right through the floor, cross members are gone, and the rear of the cab sits 2" lower than the front of the box because the cab mount surfaces are so badly rusted.
Yep, winters up here take a toll on trucks. My 250 has 148k on her, and 3k on the motor. Nothing wrong besides the body falling apart. Which to me is worth fixing because the truck has a ton of life left in it.
Well I do need wheels too. 2 of mine cracked from idiots not tightening the lugs all the way and than having the plow on the front...
that said,
iv got a tail gate and 4 rims.(check my garage, and look at the summer pics.those gray wheels and that tail gate-if it works on the late 80's rig.)shipping may kill ya though.send pm if interested.
oh.i didn't have a pic of the gate so i put it in the garage.
here it is:
the original wheels are gray and in fine shape.
they all look this one:
i don't need either.so offer suppin slightly lower than reasonable and pay the shipping and they're yours lol.
(i'll have 4 more red rims for sale soon too if you'll want those too lol.actually, now that's its warm enough out,im going o spray the red ones on there black,so it looks better.the ones i'll send to you will be the original gray ones you see there.)
edit,
i just went out and looked at the gate.
when i lifted the handle,it doesn't appear to lift the side latches.probably just disconnected in there i dunno.
it has a plastic "bed liner type" cover on the inside too.
yep, those are the wheels i want. NO one around here has them... not even the yards... and i really dont wanna buy a set of aftermarket wheels for a tool... since the truck they are for is my plow truck...
