i know this has been asked a million times...what is the hicky under the hood that looks like a tin soup can...its mounted on the passenger side fenderwell?
thats the vapor canister......part of the emissions system
lol, i'm thinking of having mine painted to look like a can of hungry man beef stew...or maybe folgers coffee......is there any canned food thats related to ford ?
i have been buried in GM B Bodies for the last two years...my wife was sick of me pineing over my last f150 a 1995 reg cab 302 4x4 with the a4od that she let me get another..
i came across a 2wd 1994 xl (i liked my 1995 xlt better but, at least i feel like i can get this one dirty) with a 300 and 5 speed with 114k miles and she let my buy it for $1500
anyway, the matter at hand,
it idles rough, took it to my mechanic and he fixed 1 vac line and changed the plugs wires and dist cap. and declared it fixed. (i think ill find a new mechanic as he said that a rough idle is typical for a 300) its idleing rough enough the shifter shakes with my hand on it!
the truck seems to drive smooth enough but it has, like i said, a rough idle.
the vac can is rotted out. so until i can get to the boneyard and get one i wraped it in many layers of aluminum tape. ...still idles high and rough.
if i pull the lines off the vac can and hold my finger over the opening, it slow the engine, but it doesnt smooth out much.
any suggestions?
the mechanic said the only code left after he "fixed it", was the heater circuit for the o2 sensor. he said the sensor is working just the heater end of it isnt.
