Ain't no better view than the view from inside an old ford truck.

My dad is who got me into cars/trucks and this is a hobby we still enjoy together. He has had plenty to say about my truck, mostly positive.

Some of the more colorful things he has said:

"I'm not sure if building a pickup is really the thing you should be doing in life right now, but I'm sure as heck not the person to be able to tell you not to"

"Cute truck" -He always had bumpside F-250 4x4's; which I admit do look considerably tougher than my 2wd dent

"Why are you still messing around with a 6 cylinder, just put a 460 in it and be done with it" -I told him that when he finds me the right short block that I'd consider a 460 stroker, but until then the 300 I-6 is staying

"If you need a stereo, you need more motor" - Yeah, I'll admit there is some truth to that.

Haha, good lines from good old Dad!

My Dad and I were into Chryslers but have since kept those as family cars and gotten F trucks as workhorses.

He's said he likes mine, even though its ridiculously in need of repair. Now I'm in the situation of having a running driving Chrysler Valiant wagon, and he has a running driving F-truck! We just have to see who catches up on the other first.

My dad asks when its going to be finished. Then says his 2013 F250 6.2gasser will always be a better truck.
He liked my powerstroke I used to have, hated my 88 F250 I had in highschool
We got this truck (78F250 351 4speed 4x4) the winter after we both got home from deployment. We have always been close we were in the same battalion while deployed. I was driving around in a 75 Turbo Datsun and needed a truck. I was almost on my way to VA to buy a 74 F100 when he told me about the white truck.
We got it running better and bickered back and fourth while working on it. I started working at a friends fathers garage at 11 then joined the Army as a Blackhawk mechanic.
Getting that Ford changed my dads mind and now hes a ford guy now. He had Dodges and Chevys before that.
Most of the questions are 'is it done yet' 'why are you doing that' 'why don't you buy a new cab'
all are questions I ask myself often. He's supportive over my build, I live 2 hours away so he doesn't lend a hand but if I needed help he would be there. Now I am a medevac pilot (Blackhawk) and he's in the same unit flying GSAB missions in Blackhawks. its a unique bond we have together. I cant wait to give him the keys to the truck and hear what he says about it.

I'm fortunate that my Dad is still alive and truly sorry to those of you who have lost their Dad.
Since I now have my Dad's truck....I know he's just tickled that I have it and working on restoring it. I have many fond memories of my Dad driving it on vacations all over Washington and Oregon and even as far south as Reno, Nev. When I see guys posting stuff about the P.O.....I know who that person was. Its just too bad that when I ask him a question about Henry...he scratches his head and says he doesn't remember. Oh well.....that's where these forums come in. And ironically....he bought himself an 85 Chebbie to have as a truck so of course I give him crap about it. hehe

Pops (RIP) would say my F100 is more practical than my Ferrari 360 Spider.

Pops was an accountant....

He'd most likely smile, and shake his head, and then ask how the hell do I get into it.
Miss you buddy

My dad would be disappointed that ive got 5K wrapped up in a 2500 dollar heap, then he would spend every day that he could helping me work on it without question.
