I did a dumb thing.
dented my own truck. Saturday morning I was borrowing a buddies 4 wheeler to go do a controlled burn on some forrest land. Its one of those big beasts, a polaris 750 or so 4x4, about 700 pounds I would guess. Well I have some aluminum ramps that we load my little 250 2wd with all the time, I hook the safety chains to the tailgate cables like always. line up the 4 wheeler, stand off to the side withe trans mission in 4 low and gently push th ethumb throttle. 4whlr gets halfway onto tailgate, and about 5 things happen all at once. ramp on rightside kicks out, 4 whlr leans, leaning pushes on gas, ramp hits me in hip, 4whlr LEAPS ito air heading towards cab.

how the winch hook didnt break rear window I will never know. 4whlr lands with one front tire outside of bed rail. other on my tool box. side wall of bed has a large dent plastic rail cover twisted and gouged. tailgate bent , gate protector ripped off. toolbox crushed. And the darn thing was so Heavy I couldnt lift it off. I drove under the barn and winched the thing into the air, drove out from under it an set it back on the ground. thinking the whole tome that the board I was winching from was gonna break and do even more damage to the truck. So when loading please be a lillte extra carefull and think of my dumb ****. it might save you my pain !!!!!

Yeah I have loaded and unloaded atv's out of trucks and never cared for driving them up or having them running. I have seen and heard too many horror stories about having them go thru back windows. But I stick with 3 wheelers anyway, so I can just lift them into the truck. Those new quads are as big as a car or jeep!
