How Hot

My 7.3 runs 195-to 205 when pulling a good load in 75-80 degree weather, seems a little warm. Whats yours running?

That's a good temp when pulling a load. Mine runs 190 to 195 empty depending on outside temp, loaded and climbing a hill I have seen 210.

A factory Tstat is something like 192, the way they are measured is thats when it starts opening, it will not be fully open until close to 210. Is your fan coming on,mine comes on around 210 and goes back off close to 205.

Where is the best spot to put a manual gage in? We have had one in the old sender port and I wonder if something is off. I have heard the fan start to chirp when that gage jumps to around 200. And when it has came on full blast it will go on for a while and bring the temps way down.

I have a 180* t-stat on the 6.9 to, I like it alot better like that.

It's always under load so can heat up pretty quick!

The temp light port is where most installs the sending unit for a guage, but it wouldn't make me any diff if the factory guage works or not.

Dave S engine runs up to 240, I have never seen any of mine above about 215 and that was on long hard pulls. It would be a bad pull for mine to not cool down a few degrees when the fan kicks on.

May not help you any, but my 6.9 runs a steady 190-195 empty. Loaded over the colder months it ran the same, will be watching though as the weather is warming up nicely

I've never had my fan come on and the gauge rarely passes "N" (I know I need a mechanical). I wonder if my t-stat aint broke...
