Ok guys, First thing is happy Easter everyone! Now to my question. I have been looking for tire for my 96 f250. I found a set of super swamper TSL on 8 lug ford rims. They are off a 85 F250. Will rims off a 85 fit a 96? I want to think so but not sure. I hope someone can answer fast as i'm going to look at them at 2pm.
Hey Doug...don't mean to take over your thread. I think our lug pattern is 8 x 6.5 ... That is the stock rim for '96 / '97. Please someone chime in if I'm wrong. I laid on my back a couple days ago, & measured the spare tire rim....I feel sure it is 6.5in. lug pattern.
I'm lookin' some after-market rims & tires for my truck too!
Even though the bolt pattern may be the same, I'm wondering if rims from an 85 will clear the front discs of your '96. I recently went from the stock Alcoa 7" rims to an 8" because 7" is too narrow for my 285s. I got a set of Pro-Comp 8089 black/machine rims. I think they look awesome. They clear suspension and fenders OK but I had to trim a bit off the bottom rear corners of the front bumper because they are offset a bit more to the outside than the Alcoas. Shimming the bumper forward with washers would work too.
If you need to jump to 8" I don't think it's possible to get a better looking rim for our rigs. I'm still looking for the right size hub cover for the front. The one included is too short and I sold my others with the Alcoas.
1981 to 1997.5 bolt pattern the same, 1999 to present different. Backspacing/offset depends on wheel/rim mfg. Factory wheels/rims same for same sixe. IE 16x6 all same, 16x7 all same etc for FOMOCO.

Since you are into the pics.....Can you get about a 3' to 4' side shot of the front wheel / front bumper area & post it. I'l like to see that tire clearance to the bumper.
Can do Johnny - after I get home from work. I'll try to get a pic or 2 up this evening - around 6 or 7PM MDT. But don't let bumper clearance deter you. Even if you don't want to trim it like I did, you can always shim it forward.
Johnny - Sorry for the delay. My neighbor was out when I got home. I went over and ended up talking to him for an hour and a half. Anyway here are shots showing the closest the tire gets to the mud flap (1in) and back of the front bumper (3/8). The last shot shows the strips I cut off the bumper. I just used a 4 1/2in angle grinder, then touched up the bare metal with primer. I really don't like the look of a bumper that's shimmed forward, unless there's a winch or something hanging on it. I never wheel her, or I might have concerns hitting that bumper when stuffing the tire. I hope this helps.
