Fuel Injector install

Ok, just took out injectors and sleeves, installed new injector sleeves and o rings on the injectors. Now having difficulty reinstalling the injectors... sleeves appear to be properly installed. Any pointers to reinstalling the injectors? I am not using any special tool, just trying to bump them down with my hand.

Did you get the O-rings on without any twists? I think I remember doing this... I think I stuck a loop of fishing line under the rings with some grease and went roundy roundy to get the rings straight. You got a small scrap of 2x4 and a LIGHT! hammer or a plastic faced hammer?
Grease 'em up real nice. seat 'em down with your hand get the clamp bolt in fingertight and give 'em a love tap ONLY IF YOU HAVE TO. If the bolt turns it went down. loosen and retouch the bolt down tap tap feel the bolt. New sleeves and O-rings I bet It's gonna fit tighter than just O-rings. Are you changing glow plugs too?

Why did you have to change the sleeves?

try a mild slap with a rubber mallet right on top of the solenoid. make sure not to hit the plug on the side of the solenoid, but i always tap 'em down with a rubber mallet. did you make sure to vacuum the cylinders?

Got the lovely diesel fuel in the coolant issue...pulled all of the sleeves, looks like number 7 cracked.. installed with whitaker tool remover/installer new o rings and glow plugs (while I was in there). o rings look seated properly and lathered them up good with oil.

Number 8 7 and 5 are being a pain installing just cant get a good bump on them....should I take the glow plugsout? maybe its pressure related? then install the plugs?
only other thing i can think of is the sleeve not seated all the way in

yes! take out the glow plugs. sounds like you may have a bunch of fluid in some cylinders. Thats not good when you spin the crank

Always pull the glow plugs and bump it over real carefully a few times then spin it a few seconds.
What I do is to lay a towel over the injectors then set the valve cover on top of that. If you don't oil will fly from one end of the garage to the other. Without the towel under the valve cover it will sound almost like a shotgun blast when the oil squirts.

ok so fluid in the cylinder tops will make my injectors difficult to seat? I am so worried that the sleeves did not seat all the way in and that whats holding me up... what about using the slide bar that the bottom screws for the injector mount up to.. could i put a stick and tap on that? It just seems the slideer that holdls the injectors down are not sliding over the top bolt and level. I @$@#$ sure dont want to take this t hing to the shop with half of the top half torn down!!!
Anyone near Jackson Ms mind coming over?!!!

ok all injectors in except 5 and 7. I have buggered with 7 pulling it in/out at least 7 times and still cannot get the hold down cover to line up so I can tighten down and tap the injector, as this helped with 4 others... I may end up pulling those sleeves and reinstalling again... all glow plugs are out and drained the hpop reservoir as well...any other ideas please send them my way.

thanks

you did oil down the injectors before install right?? even though you pulled the oil rail plugs and stuff you still have to vacuum the cylinders and turn it over with out the GP's in place to make sure b/c fluid still gets in there from the injectors. so really there is no point in pulling the drain plugs b/c you have to vacuum and all anyways.

put the injector in it's bore as far as you can by hand and get you a rubber mallet and smack the solenoid a couple times being careful of the plug on the side. if they don't go then i think you may have injector sleeve issues...
