I just recently got my truck painted and now every time I go over bumpy roads or just around a turn I can hear the bed flex. I don't remember this happening before I took it in for the paint job, had it for a short period of time before taking it in. I spoke to the body shop manager and he told me that the bed was reinstalled within spec after painting and that this is "normal."
It is really annoying and I'm not sure what to do. Help!!
The beds are bolted to the frame with carriage bolts. There really is no science to installing the bed other than to get it on. Worst case you might have to shim here or there to level it out. Crawl under your truck and inspect the tightness of the nuts.
It sounds to me like the side walls are flexing. There should be a brace running down to the bed in front of the wheels to keep it from flexing. They may have left them out. If they are lost you can make some out of some small conduit that is flattened on each end a bolted in where the old braces were.

I looked inside my wheel wells this morning and there are two braces, one before the rear wheel and one after. I couldn't imagine why the body shop would remove these braces to paint the truck, but who knows maybe they did.
The braces are in place, they had no reason for removing them during the paint process. Guess i just have to live with it, thanks for the help anyway. aargh!!
