93 ranger headlights
Tracing down the problem I found that the original factory headlight plugs are not being used. When those are plugged into the bulbs neither the headlights or brights work. Some redneck rigged his own harness that at least works the regular head lights.
My theories are as fallows;
-The multi function switch is bad. The redneck seems to have bypassed it in his "new and improved" harness.
( The indicator light for the brights comes on when you pull the multi but goes off soon as the multi returns to the neutral position, the brights themselves never come on. The leads on the plugs go nowhere )
-There is a computer box on the front clip thats tied into the same harness as the lights. Maybe thats causing problems?
-Up by the master cylinder where most the wiring on the truck comes together there is a plug from that harness thats not plugged in. It has nothing to plug into. The wires going into the plug are as fallows; Grey/with orange stripe, red/blue, 2x red/green, 2x blue/orange, white/purple, gray/red.
What do yall think it is?
Thanks
All of the plug I talked about in the above post is bad, it shorts to ground.
