I've heard so many different torque settings for head bolts 100, 75, 175?......but the rest of the bolts I have no clue what to torque them too.....and I'm using fel-pro head gaskets if that matters....I looked on the box they came in but it had no torque settings on it...anything you guys can tell my will help a lot.
The head bolts for starters shoulod be replaced with new. The torque on them goes as follows, 45ft lbs in numbered sequence (that I don't have a pic of sorry). Then to 65 in numbered sequence. Then torque to 75 in line sequence starting with the top left bolt from front of enginegoing to the right then down to the next row back to the left then the bottom row back to th right. Then repeant step 3.
The rocker arms are as follows, turn the engine over by hand till the timing mark is at the 11 o'clock postion, install the rockers and torque to 27ft lbs.
Intake alsohas a numbered sequence that i don't have a pic of but the torque is 24 ft lbs in that sequence then in line sequence at the same torque.
The exhaust is 30 ft lbs for the 83-85 engines and 35 for the 86.
I know that not haveing the picks sucks but I hope this helps some.
I'mma go a little off topic here but...on the rocker arms they have a little T at the end of them...the rocker arms I got off the junk yard 7.3 the T < --- is just like that,,,but on the rocker arms I got with the truck the T is upside down...whats up with that?...and does it matter if the T's are different?....I didn't know if one was stronger or not.
