Quick Question Time: Edge Insight

Yeah, I experience problems just like the rest of you Installed the Insight for a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago, today I had to finish the truck by drilling for the EGT probe. Everything went smooth, wiring is neat....the Insight does not display the temps...N/A OK whats going on? I told him to call tech and see what they have to say, I got tired of thumbing through mindless pages of instructions.

I did the reset / Diesel....yada yada yada....no change. Looked through inputs and pids.....just shoot me.

I don't have much experience with the insight, but it sounds like theres a problem with the monitor. I did a search on google, and there are a few people with the same problem who had the monitor replaced.

Good luck!

There are different selections for the same sensor you would like to chose for different autos. There is more than 1 egt selection, you just have to find it.

If you're doing it in the truck on the Insight, hit Menu from the display. Choose the Setup option. Choose which Display screen (1, 2, 3 or 4), then choose the number of PID's to show on the selected screen.

Hit Enter on the position you want to display EGT (e.g. top left). At this point it should show a bunch of PID's (temp, Ford Specific, etc). Scroll all the way to the bottom and select "Edge EGT". That is the PID for the Edge specific EGT probe you installed and plugged into the Insight cable at the ODB-II plug. That should display the EGT.

Bingo we have a winner! I shot this over to him in an email last night, also a Thanks to smokersteve.

I have a short (temper) attention span for instructions when the probe install took less than trying to read through the manual to make things work. I turned to the best place I know for accurate information right here on FTE. Thanks guys

Maximum,

I had the same problem when I installed my Edge. I ended up calling Edge to get the answer. They admitted that there were still some units that got out the door without the current instructions showing the menu choice.

Regards

Glad you got it worked out. I had a similar issue at first w/ the DashDAQ.

Fellas,
Thanks for the tips on the Edge Insight. I am thinkin about purchasing this device to monitor temps. Will the insight monitor EOT, ECT, & ETT(trans temp)? As mentioned above, you have to install the EGT probe to get that data. Just curious of the others (coolant, oil , trans temps) do you need to install additional probes or do you get that info by default from the truck's computer? Thanks to all, I've learned a ton on the FTE. Just not enought time in a day to ask all the questions....THanks guys

Jaybird,

It will tell you all those you asked about and a few hundred more!
Yes it reads from the trucks sensors.
About the only thing it doesn't read is fuel pressure.
It does have a fuel setting however I've never researched it, but I seem to recall its monitoring injector pulse bandwidth? Maybe someone else who actually knows will chip in.
I like mine, never had any problems.

Thanks for the input. I used to have an edge juice module w/ attitude & EGT probe. The egt probe for this set up plugged into the juice module, nothing connected to the OBD port. Do you (or anyone) know if the egt probe with the insight would fit back into the hole that i alreay have from the previous set up? I would assume it would as i don't want to tap another hole in the manifold....just curious.

Edge-EGT Probe (Juice to Insight Retrofit)

Another thing i would like to figure out/verify before I go spending $$. Like I mentioned in the post above i had the Edge juice module with Attitude monitor & egt probe installed. Well, I took all this out as I wanted to switch over to SCT tunes. I left the EGT probe in place, now I would like to get set up with the Insight as my gauge but prefer to NOT buy the EGT probe for the insight as I already have the one from the Juice moduel setup. However, this probe plugged into the Juice module directly where as the egt probe for the insight plugs directly to the Insight Monitor (i think). Quesiton, is it possible to splice the one i have and get the correct connector and then plug into the Insight? If so, i would save about $100 bucks on the probe. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The egt probe's cable plugs into the Insight's obd connector cable. Do not know if it is configured the same as yours. I would call Edge.
