Regular Cab Lariat

I was cruising the local Craigslist this morning and ran across this

1999 Ford F350 Lariat Super Duty Flatbed 7.3L Turbo Diesel Great Truck

I always thought that the regular cabs only came in XLs or XLTs this is the first Lariat one I've seen todate. Leather Seats and a factory 6disk CD player I was surprised.

This one is definitely a Frankentruck. Wonder what it was originally.

The HPOP cover indicates early-99.

The coolant is low. Wonder what the SCA's would test at.

Why are there "elephant ears" on a tow-rig?

Who made those tires? "Finnish for Journey"? Sorry, I prefer Swedish!

Tire iron and jack rods are missing.

Looks like rubber floor mat, not Lariat's carpeting. Certainly not color-matched.

Never run across a non-ESOF Lariat.

Fuse close-out panel looks to be non-matching color.

What's with the blue tape at the top of the steering wheel under that sleazy cover? The leather tends to deteriorate earliest here, so the steering wheel should have been completely re-done when they put it into this truck.

Sure would like to see the condition of the leather under that "seat cover".

Fuel cap retaining strap goes to where?

Front bumper has seen its share of hard times.

Cosmetics and badging does not a Lariat tow-rig make, and poor ones at that....

Too much for too little, in my opinion.

The coolant is low. Seen several trucks including mine that won't hold at the full mark

Why are there "elephant ears" on a tow-rig? Seen SEVERAL duallys around here like that its actually pretty funny IMHO

Who made the tires? Master Craft a common cheaper tire around here

Tire iron and jack rods are missing.

Never run across a non-ESOF Lariat. Not looking hard enough, several lariats even newer models have Non ESOF special order I actually have a Neighbor with one that has an 02 with 45K on the clock 6 spd non- ESOF

Fuse close-out panel looks to be non-matching color.

Mine is GONE under mine but I always leave a steering wheel cover on there 10 bucks is a cheap fix

Sure would like to see the condition of the leather under that "seat cover". Looks poor Judging from the center ceat

I agree Pop. Frankentruck for sure.

It has foil on the IC pipe but appears to be an e99 turbo????
Look at the gap between the tranny dipstick tube and the downpipe.
Indicative of the shorter e99 turbo pedestal.

Another clue "it does have a rebuilt title".

Isn't this fun on a Saturday morning, just picking apart someone's pride-and-joy???

Somehow, you know he'll fool a lot of people, though.

Not a changer. Single CD and cassette tape.

Don't know about the '99's, but my 2000 has the one pictured.

Must have been a bad front end collision to ding up an IC pipe. Atleast we are on a good fact finding mission LOL.

I dunno'. It kinda' appears to "maybe" be woodgraining on the same door trim panel that my 2000 Lariat has. It's darker, at any rate, and pretty hard to tell for sure.

I don't think it would be just darker without being wood grain.

Not sure....

I'm just gonna say it, who in their right mind would buy a reg. cab for $8k in that condition...even if it was what they say it is, it has a salvage title, and has obviously been used up...

as for the radio, i kindof want an OEM unit like that for mine, i have a JVC single disc, and do not own any cassettes, but my JVC doesn't quite fit right from the installation by the PO...i'm either gonna change it out, or go back to the OEM one...

Pretty stout looking bed on that thing, could make some cash with that bed. Light to moderate heavy loads.

I strongly disagree with this remark. There is no franken to this truck, and there is nothing to fool anyone about. it all looks factory late 99 to me. Here are some pictures i just walked out and took of my Late 99 lariat.

This is to show that i have a lariat pickup.

This one is to show the placement of the transmission dipstick tube, and prove you dont have to have an early 99 to get this placement.

and looky there i have no esof on a lariat.

and lastly no woodgrain on the door panels in this lariat.

please excuse the dirty ness of my truck, we have had a lot of rain and its been pretty soupy.

as for the mirrors, i have seen a couple of dually's running around here with that style of mirror.
