You will need a p/s box, a p/s pump and mounting bracket and some lines and fluid. All are available for early broncos new from vendors like James Duff, Toms Bronco Parts, or Wild Horses to mention a few. You can also source the parts used from many different people such as myself who have multiple early broncos that they sell parts off of. Depends on how much you want to spend and how much searching you want to to. If money is no option just go to one of the bronco vendors web site and order up what you need. If you're unsure give them a call and they will help you out. I've dealt with most all of them at one time or another and they are all pretty decent people. Toms would be my first choice. If I can be of any help just holler. I have all of the parts you need used.

Lot of way's to convert it. Depends on how much you want to spend, fabricate and main usage. I think the stock steering box from a Bronco is the easiest, available from other Bronco owners. If I remember right the 74-75 is six turn lock to lock, 76-77 is about four turns and the Rockcrawler is two and a half turns. A little too quick for hiway driving, but just my opinion. I'd find a used steering gear and buy a new pump, but depends on your situation.

If you're gonna buy it new, go with the saginaw pump instead of the Ford pump. Much better, last longer, cheaper. Ford pumps don't last if you go 33'' tires or bigger, saginaw will last forever with 35''s. Wild Horses sells a mount for it and proper hoses. One of the best things I've ever done.

The Ford pump is called the *canned ham* pump for a reason. lol It's shaped pretty much like a canned ham. The pump mechanism is inside the resevoir. The Saginaw is actually used on lots of Ford products and easily found. It looks more like an ordinary pump. It has a remote resevoir that can be changed out when replacing the p/s pump. The Ford pump just has a small tube with a dipstick in it for filling, the Saginaw will be taller and have a screw on lid on top of the resevoir to fill. HTH

Just a correction which I am sure you meant... The saginaw is the "canned ham" the ford is more of a canned tuna.

It is pretty easy to machine a slot in an original power steering pump bracket for the saginaw pump instead of paying a lot for a new one. That is if you can find an original for cheap.
