Just wondering what are acceptable temps when towing. my oil went to 200+.... same with trans. egt spikes (hills) stayed under 1250. I babied the 7.3 on the way home till I figure this out. There were times that I was climbing hills droping below the speed limit and I know the 7.3 should/will handle things but I need peace of mind first. So how hot is too hot with oil and trans fluids??
I was told with the tranny that you can run it all day under 225 degree. 225-250 is ok for a short while and 250+ means pull over and let it cool.
Not sure about the oil but I would think it would be similiar.
My EOT gets up to 230 when pulling 5th wheel up hill than goes down to about 220 on flats, I have a stick so no trany temp. (not too much flats here in Ut.)
