9" gear ratios
My truck has has some problems in the diff and a thought if i was going to have it apart I would like to cange the ratios to decrease the rpm I have to run at freeway speeds. so i would like to know what ratio it is now. if any one can tell me how to tell with out opening it up it would be apreticated. also any imformation about what ratios are good, and any other info about this subject would be helpful. thanks

Jay, You can start by looking at the bolts on the front side of the center section. Most cases there is a thin metal tag under one of the nuts. Read it and post what you find there. The 3 most common ones went kinda of like this
I-6 sd 3.75
352 sd 3.25
352 auto 3.00
There were others but these were common.

sorry, forgot to mention that i have alredy looked for the tag and its not there. since it is a standard and originaly had a 352 should i assume it is 3.25? any more info would be helpful. thankyou
