I was working in a mouding mill, working on a 6000 gal glue tank, on a latter, latter fell. I went down @16 feet, breaking both arms, back, and face. That was in 1990, and 18 surgeries later.

could this be the turn signal switch or the light switch or what?
Sounds like a bad ground Walt. Check the ground wire back by the tail light, and the ground wire from the cab to the frame or engine ( in the engine bay...). In the older rigs we run the grounds corrode and rust over time.....

Did you collect a healthy award, or did the employer conclude (as they always do) that it was the employees fault?
At least TWO of us could be right.........Sorry Dave, shorted out wire would not cause the bulb to burn out because it wouldn't be getting any power TO burn out.........

How sloppy does the turn signal feel? Both my 66 and the 76 did close to the samething. The turn signal was very sloppy and shorting out in the column.

I have had dead shorts that lit bulbs momentarily before burning out the bulb or blowing the fuse...........but to be sure, they did not last very long!
Probably time to head to NAPA for a new switch.
Sure sounds like a bad ground to me, take them all off and clean up the connector and clean the metal were it connects. I have had to do this numerous times over the years on my old 75.
