I had the 4.6 to 5.4 engine swap done and I am trying to diagnose a noise that sounds like the power steering pump. I know its not the PS pump because I just replaced it and also ran the engine without a belt to make sure the noise wasn't from the other accessories.
I took the truck to a mechanic and he used the stethoscope to help isolate the sound and he said it was the loudest at the oil filter adaptor. The 5.4 that's now in my truck doesn't have any oil cooler lines on the adapter but the mechanic seems to think its supposed to because of engine drawings that he's seeing. And the filter adapter thats on it now is identical to the one off the 4.6 (without the oil cooler). Could this be the source of the sound? Is this going to cause problems in the near future?
