I just joined this forum after buying a 1999 F150 4x4 Lariat 5.4l a few months ago.
Now I have a big problem, and hope someone can help.
The truck is having the engine replaced in a local shop. Somehow the oil filter adapter (Ford P/N F75Z-6B895-DA) got cracked. My truck has the remote oil filter without the oil cooler. The oil pressure sender screws into a boss on the remote hose. All the dealers show this part superseded with no replacement.
The dealers also show the adapter with the oil cooler (Ford P/N F75Z-6881-FA), and state that it is a direct cross. The only problem with that, is that oil pressure sender connects directly to the adapter, and is too close to the front differential. It would also require a new remote hose assembly to make it work.
Is there anybod here that have run into this problem, and if so, how did you fix it.
I live in Houston, but work in Louisiana. The truck is in a shop in Kenner, La.
My 01 has the filter on the adapter as well as the sending unit with no problems clearing the front differential. Maybe try one of those unless you have a remote filter and want to keep it.
Thanks for the reply. After going to the regional manager for the company replacing the engine, he states to me that they will replace with one similar to the one you have. This after they confered with a Ford Dealership parts guy. I'm still a bit skeptical..... We'll see when i go pick it up.
