Suspension Help

My 87 F250 4X4 6.9 Diesel has leaf springs in the front that ride really stiff. I hit an unmarked speed bump and lifted the front end off the ground. Does anyone have any ideas how to soften up the front end a bit. I use the truck as my daily driver back and forth to work, and I haul firewood about twice a year but that is about it. Basically I'm looking for a smoother ride.

Thanks for any advise.

f250 4x4s are made to haul weight i wouldnt recommend changing anything on the front end with that heavy diesel under the hood. What i would do is keep the keep the 250 to haul the firewood and tow whatever needs towing and get a f150 for a daily driver. But thats me Maybe you can remove a leaf to make the ride a little softer

I think some guys have converted to the newer style super duty springs. I'm not sure what's involved but I've seen a few posts refering to it. Apparently, they ride softer.

What about these front air bag setups that I see around? Do you think anything like that would help?

That diesel is a big heavy chuck of metal to suspend so there's isn't much to be done to improve the ride without making the suspension sag. Get yourself a little econobox to commute and park the big assed truck until it's firewood time, the money you save driving a vehicle that gets an honest 30mpg everywhere all the time will pay for itself pretty quickly.

Yep, I drive a 95 Esquirt to work since i commute about 55 miles each way. 34 mpg is nice when gas is $2.89/gal.
