GTP38R Question?

Im doing some research on the 38r and everyone seems to like them. My only concern is that some say they are loud? I have the WW in my stock turbo, is it any louder than that?

mine is loud, but alot of it has to do with the sound proofing or lack there of that was used in the Early Super Dutys

Being that you have an E99 truck........

You are going to know that you have a different turbocharger under the hood. It's a good thing you've already upgraded to the newer up-pipe/pedestal.

Those things scream.

Exactly...one of the BEST mods you can do to these trucks is take out all seats and carpet and door panels and see how nice ford was to leave it all bare metal and put down some sound dampening yourself. Makes a HUGEEEE difference, especially if you drive your truck all the time and have it modded.

Heck you have it easy, all you have to do is drop it in. I did the turbo, up-pipes, pedestal, intake and everything all at once.

I'm in the market for sound deadening material, there's been some good threads on here about it. There is a huge difference between my e99 and my dad's '03. Can't barely hear the motor in his truck!

You guys should check out B-Quiet sound deadening material Very good priced and does the job very very well. If you go to gallery or customer install pics, there is a f350 crew cab i think shown before and after and you will see why our trucks are so loud.

The Door Seal Mod is supposed to help in sound deading from road noise also.

I run the GTP38r and the ford AIS, when I first installed the turbo I noticed a bit more whistle especially first thing in the morning when the engine is still cold, after it warms up I don't notice much difference. The AIS really does a good job muffling the noise, I'm a bit to old to want to listen to all that, for sure when I was younger I'd be all over that 6637 allot of guys like on here. I do notice that this turbo takes allot longer to stop spinning after I shut the truck down, pretty cool. I think you will like the 38r : )

I read a thread recently were someone thought their new 38r was loud so ITP (i think) sent to back to Garrett for some performance package work (i think) and it came back quiet. Sorry to seam like I'm guessing, I'll see if I can find the thread and re-read it.
