Several Questions

I want to do a tune up now i know it includes air filter, fuel filter, plugs wires. And since im not used to a distributer set up what else do i need? Cap? rotor? coil?

Now i need a new exhaust BAD. Im going with a 2.5" tailpipe i want to do a single in/single out setup. What are yall's opinions on exhaust? I dont like flowmasters becasue ive had bad experiences with them on more then one occasion. I was debating between a thrush turbo, thrush fully welded, Glasspack, cherrybomb extreme and an slp loudmouth muffler. Can yall give me some ideas ofwhat will be loud but not annoyingly loud

Thanks

Cap, rotor, plugs (cheap motorcraft or autolites are fine) and filters. And obviously check your fluids and belts/hoses.

A new coil isn't really needed unless it tests weak. If it's really old and you want to upgrade it go ahead.

I've got thrush welded mufflers on my 4.9l 300 and they sound pretty good. Not to loud not to quite.

Genuine MotorCraft. I've heard Accel parts are also good.

I'm getting a Dyno-Max ultra flo X put on my 1981 tomorrow. It currently has dual exhaust with quiet mufflers that are also kind of restrictive. It is a dual in and dual out
stainless steel muffler that has a built in X crossing. I'll report back tomorrow as to how
it sounds.

If you are more about "reliability," then MOTORCRAFT parts are what you want.

After going through quite a few aftermarket parts, I have learned that nothing is better quality or relaible than Motorcraft parts. Motorcraft parts are all I use now, unless nothing else is available.

Well i tore into the truck a little bit and found out all it needs are new wires and plugs. The cap and rotor are both either brand new or they were very recently put on the truck. So looks like ill just be getting motorcraft plugs, the ford racing 9mm wires and ive narrowed it down to a glasspack or a cherry bomb extreme
