Up date on '89 I6 with two timing marks!
Well my friend Jared and I looked at the crank damper and found no evidence of another mark .............So in the spring when I replace the cam and crank gears (steel ones) I will clean the damper apply new black paint and add a nice white mark in the correct spot (unless I find it before then) and then make a new mark on the timing cover and so on the damper . Also I would like to take this time and thank everyone who helped out !

The mark you are looking for is just a scribed line, like some one took an ice pick and made a line on the damper. If the damper is dirty you won't see it. You have to climb under and clean the damper with a brush or sandpaper. At that time you should also see the timing plate bolted to the timing cover.

The timing plate has been found- that is also where the sensore mounts for factory diagnosis. I know that much. I got under there, and looked carefully, and felt the whole perimeter of the damper, and the wasn't anything. I don't mind the cold so much, lol, I am really built for it. But maybe when it gets a little warmer.
