I flushed my cooling system and replaced the coolant with ELC 200 miles ago. While I was in there, I installed the dieselsite coolant filter. Well, the other day I when to check my coolant filter and it was ice cold after driving 20 minutes. So I stopped by napa today and picked up a new filter. When I changed it, I chopped open the old one to see what was in it. It was full of what looks like jell-o. WTF? There eas also sand in there which is to be expected but the gel stuff has me worried. It looks like (and probably is) gelled coolant. I am worried that it just filtered out the coolant part and lowered my % of coolant in the system.
Any thoughts? Coolant is Zerex heavy duty ELC coolant.
Bob sells the NO precharged Baldwin filters, he doesn't like them and for obvious reasons. B-5134 filters for our applications. Also, at 10.50 a filter, they are rather inexspensive IMO opposed to other places.
Just want to let you guys know that I put a good 500+ miles on the napa filter and it is still flowing like new. I duno why that first filter plugged up with gel. All seems to be good now.
